THREADCYCLE

Through a cooperative effort between AxlsCloset.com and our many partner brands, we are able to provide a pre-addressed, prepaid apparel mailer in every shipment from AxlsCloset.com. To participate in the program, all you do is place two gently worn and outgrown t shirts into the mailer and place it on your porch or in your mailbox. Your postman will pick up the mailer and deliver it to the current charity or non-profit.

The goal of THREADCYCLE is to help parents teach their children about philanthropy by enabling their kids to do something charitable, regardless of age.

My children are 6 and 8 years old (Axl and Lola). I am interested in teaching them about philanthropy, but at their ages, I have found it challenging to find many ways to get the message across.

I see THREADCYCLE as an opportunity to have my children do some good using the currency that they know best, their stuff. Hopefully, my children will understand that they can make a difference, even at their young age.

I realize that two T shirts is a small donation and a little ripple in a large pond, but maybe the lesson will stick with my kids and the ripple will grow with them as they move through childhood. A few generations of children who lean toward helping others seems like a good idea to me.

Currently all THREADCYCLE donations go to The Assistance League (www.assistanceleague.org), to help with their programs for underprivileged children. We donate at the national level, but as the program grows, we will begin to segment the donations by state.
