It’s hard to believe that it’s almost time for kids (and their parents) to start preparing for going back to school.  As I was selecting my favorite kids clothing for back to school this fall, memories of my own grade school experiences started flooding back.  My favorite memory of my cool back to school style is one my mom likes to tell often.  My mother finally gave me the opportunity to dress myself and I decided to dress in all black from head to toe.  Weird? Maybe…but it was just one of those crazy kid style phases.  Either way, I think it only lasted a day or two and then it was on to the next thing.

At AxlsCloset we know that kids are very in tune with their own personal style and back to school is when it’s time to put your best kid fashion forward.  I selected this Boys Quiksilver Shanty Jacket as one of my favorite back to school outfit selections because it is so versatile.  The boys gunsmoke jacket is a nice neutral color to go with any kids outfit and a great option for a lightweight kids jacket during the transition into fall.

There is something about fall and the back to school season that is magical. It’s the anticipation of  new teachers, the smell of fresh  school supplies and the excitement of a new fall wardrobe. I still remember my mom pulling out her camera and making me pose on the back porch before the start of every school year. My back to school picture was probably the only photo op that I enjoyed. I loved packing up my pencil box and bagged lunch in my new backpack and putting on my carefully selected first day of school outfit. Let her twirl into a new school year. I love the Roxy Bulls Eye Dress for a first day of school outfit. It still has a touch of summer with a nice light Cotton and Polyester  blend but the fun red stripes are ready to brave the playground. The long sleeves are a good transition for the cooler fall temperatures.

Cords always remind me of fall. The Quiksilver Revolver Cord are a great straight leg, relaxed fit pant for your little guy. The warm brown color looks great with most tops and will quickly become a back to school closet staple. Mix and match with a fun sweater or basic polo. Pretty soon he’ll forget all about his summer shorts and live in his cords.

Back to school was always a bittersweet time for me and I assume it is for most kids! It means the end to summer fun, vacations and being water logged but the beginning of a new adventure with new teachers, classes, sports, sometimes schools and best of all friends. One thing I loved was back to school shopping, especially picking out the newest-coolest trapper keeper (yes I was a child of the 80’s) and most of all, my 1^st Day of School outfit! Here are a few things that are sure to be a hit for B2S 2012!

Every wardrobe needs a few go to t-shirts. The Quiksilver Cathode T-shirt has a great chill look and relaxed cut. I am also a pretty big fan of the stain proof black color. This shirt will outlive the dangers of school  lunch and recess grass stains.

If I could be little again, I would snuggle up into the Roxy Young Crush Sweater. The sweater has a great fall weight and the front zip style is an easy piece for layering.

Say goodbye to summer and get pumped for fall. The Roxy Skinny Slides Jeans is a great statement item for her closet. I love the bold and bright colors that are trending right now. She will certainly stand out as she struts the halls this fall.
