2012: The Axl’s Team Dishes on Their Top New Year’s Resolutions!
To many of us, the beginning of a New Year brings a chance at a fresh start. It provides the opportunity to reflect on the year that has past – our accomplishments, where we fell short, and goals that we are still striving towards. As we ring in the New Year at AxlsCloset, our team is done reflecting and is firmly looking forward to 2012 and the exciting possibilities that the new year holds.
While 2011 introduced product videos, visual size charts, and brands like Carhartt, Canada Goose, Seven Jeans, and Munster to our fans, 2012 will be packed full of fresh new features, even richer content, and rad new brands (big and small).
The coming year is looking to be one of our most exciting as we dedicate ourselves to offering the best selection of brands, a huge cache of relevant info surrounding the products, a superior on-site experience, and providing the best service possible when shopping online for kids big and small. From our team to yours, here are a few of each departments New Year’s Resolutions:
It’s a Family Tradition…
I’m stoked to take my kids Christmas caroling.
In my head, I have Rockwell-esque visions of my little family bundled in our holiday finery strolling around the neighborhood as the snow begins to fall lightly on our earmuffed heads. As we reach each stop on our musical journey, a cheerful resident throws open their door and greets us with hearty good tidings. I will lead us in song (and in harmony) and the amazed neighbors will applaud wildly before showering us with holiday treats.
My kids need some tradition in their lives. We will not be bringing the ipad to help with the lyrics, I will not text my family a series of coordinates for “flash-caroling”, we will not be singing any “new” carols (if my Grandparents don’t know the words, we’re not singing it- except maybe Run DMC’s Christmas in Hollis because that’s a classic) and there is no way that we will employ any non-acoustic audio enhancement (except for the aforementioned Run DMC tribute).
We will have a thermos of hot cocoa for the kids and a special thermos for the parents. We will have pockets full of peppermint bark to help us persevere in the toughest of conditions. We will wear our matching holiday scarves that my wife knitted in between making batches of cookies and sing joyfully into the night as we ride from house to house on our handcrafted holiday toboggan.
I’m positive that this is going to be the best night of my kid’s lives and will start a tradition that will span generations and is certain to catapult us into the same conversation as the Von Trapps.
Delusions aside, I really am excited to take my kids caroling, even though both of them are resisting it with everything they have. We need some family traditions that don’t involve soccer practice or the internet and it does children good to be embarrassed in front of the neighborhood. Assuming I can pry the kids away from their phones and trick my wife into wielding the pitch pipe, we will be the ones knocking on your door right in the middle of all the best shows.
Now where did I put those thermoses…
Happy Holidays !

From Our Closet to Yours: Staff Picks
The season for gift giving is upon us and luckily for you we’ve stocked our closet full of great gift ideas for the babies, tots, and kids in your life. We know it can be a little overwhelming when it comes to picking out that perfect gift, so we’ve enlisted the help of a few of our Axl’s insiders to navigate you through our store to some of their favorite pieces this season!
Sarai, Buyer: The Perfect Tee!
“I always find myself looking for the perfect t shirt. I prefer something that is super soft-almost vintage-like to the touch. On my personal quest I’ve found something for the kiddos as well! Don’t waste any more time rewashing the same shirt over and over again- instead, stock up on these home run hitters. Whether it’s Music, Books, or just funky animal prints your kids are into Chaser, Out-of-Print, and Gnome Enterprises have the best tees I’ve seen this season.”
Ryann, Marketing Director: Buntings!
“Everything is cuter when it’s small! I’m currently sharing the same obsession as our customers for one of our hottest categories this season, the bunting. Every time a new style arrives in our warehouse I rack my brain for what baby in my life I haven’t gifted one of these to yet! My favorite piece for this fall is a tie between the Columbia Snuggly Down Bunting and the Patagonia Down Sweater Bunting, one of my favorite adult pieces transformed into a bunting, but then how can you possibly resist Columbia’s Little D Bunting! All three of these will be making into my gift wrapping pile this season!”
Steve, Owner: Volcom Full Zip Hoodies!
“It’s rare that you see a brand invent a new category of clothing that instantly takes off and leaves everyone else (including us) thinking “why didn’t we do that?”. Volcom has performed this miracle with their boys full zip hoodies that zip all the way up. They have managed to create something that every boy under the age of 13 absolutely has to have, even if they know nothing about Volcom. These hoodies/costumes/imagination-enhancers have sold so well that we now have to order them in triple digits to keep them in stock. Well played, Volcom, well played.”
