Our 1% for Kids non-profit partner is: America’s Promise Alliance

Founded in 1997 with General Colin Powell as Chairman and chaired today by Alma Powell, America’s Promise Alliance is the nation’s largest partnership organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people.

Approximately 1.3 million American students drop out of high school each year. The Alliance is working to change those statistics and end the dropout crisis by raising awareness, supporting communities, and mobilizing action across the country.

Ensuring that young people experience what we call the Five Promises — caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education and opportunities to help others through service — is central to the work of the Alliance.

1% For Kids

We’re lucky. We know it and it’s why we’re committed to giving back to the communities in which we do business.

From the very first conversation regarding the kind of company and culture we wanted to build, we knew we also wanted to be in the business of improving the lives of children in America. 1% for Kids is our way of integrating philanthropy into every sale we make at AxlsCloset.com.

We’re all about kids and we want to raise awareness and support organizations that are making a difference in the lives of children in all kinds of ways. There are hundreds of great non-profits across the country working to reduce poverty, improve educational outcomes, heal the sick, and give kids a safe and supportive place to be a kid. We couldn’t choose just one so every month we’ll feature a unique children’s based organization and donate one percent of every sale to support their mission. In addition, we’ll feature a custom shirt of the month and a larger portion of the proceeds from each sale will go directly to the featured charity.
